Theodore ‘Ted’ Sablay is an American guitarist, keyboardist and vocalist. He has completed two world tours with The Killers as a contracted touring musician, playing rhythm guitar and keyboards and singing during the band’s live concerts and TV appearances. In addition to touring, Sablay also works as a music teacher, offering private online guitar, piano and bass lessons via Skype.
"I’ve been taking steel string guitar lessons and studying music theory with Ted for more than 2 ½ years. And just recently I began studying classical guitar with him as well. When I began studying the guitar I wanted an instructor who could teach with a comprehensive approach; sight-reading, songwriting and music theory, technical skill, and performance—Ted has all of these qualities in his professional teaching repertoire. His attention to detail and clear concise instruction insure productive lesson time. I especially appreciate the time he takes to record videos of exercises I am struggling with. I can go back at any time and review the correct way to practice each piece.
Ted has a vast knowledge of how music works, how songs are arranged, and what musical elements make a great song. He will organize his lessons to your musical preferences in any genre.
You won’t find a more talented, knowledgeable and professional instructor than Ted Sablay."

"I have been taking weekly guitar lessons from Ted Sablay for almost a year and a half. I was a very beginner guitar player with no background in music theory or sight-reading. My guitar playing has vastly improved. I have developed an understanding of some of the principles of music theory and can now sight-read sheet music without relying solely on tablature - two things I never imagined doing. Ted shows true passion in what he does. He is patient and excellent at tailoring lessons to custom fit my interests, strengths/weaknesses, and learning style. If you have the desire to become a better guitarist and musician, I cannot recommend Ted enough. He has truly ignited my passion for guitar."

"Taking lessons from Ted has been great! I'm a busy physician who picked up a guitar at 34 years old. I barely have time to sleep, let alone drive to a guitar lesson every week. Ted's been flexible, great to work with, and I've learned a ton in the last 8 months. I can't imagine learning guitar any other way."
- Mike Mallin, Salt Lake City, Utah
"I have been receiving piano lessons with Ted via Skype to Australia for nearly a year now. Although I had little experience previously I can’t believe how much I have learnt in such a short period of time. We cover both music theory and practical lessons and a wide variety of styles and genres of music. These lessons are always so informative, relaxed and a lot of fun, Ted is a great teacher.
I would highly recommend lessons with Ted to anyone wishing to either enhance what skills they already know or just wishing to play such a beautiful instrument."
- Fiona Craig, Melbourne, Australia
"My daughter Olivia has been having guitar lessons with Ted by Skype for almost a year and she is just as interested, keen and motivated now as when she first started! She loves her sessions with him and always comes away very animated and eager to learn more. Ted is an experienced and talented musician and a skillful, patient and passionate guitar teacher. His lessons are structured and well prepared, and he teaches Olivia in a clear, simple and fun way, balancing theory with practical as well as tailoring her lessons to what she would like to learn. His teaching methods are very productive and he has really helped and encouraged her to develop her abilities. I can totally recommend Ted to anyone wanting to take up the guitar. He is professional and friendly, and an excellent instructor."

"I always believed that if you didn’t learn to play music as a child, you really don’t have much of a chance to learn as an adult. Fortunately, when given the opportunity to take guitar lessons with Ted, I discovered that it IS possible to learn music well beyond childhood. Ted infuses guidance, encouragement, and patience into our lessons. He not only teaches guitar, but due his extensive knowledge of music concepts and theories, he is always able to answer my many “whys?”. He has made guitar interesting and exciting, without making it feel difficult. If you have the desire to learn guitar, or even hone the skill that you already have, I would totally encourage you to get in touch with him!"

“Having not picked up an instrument since I was 6 years old, I thought there was no way I would ever be able to learn to play the guitar, piano or even Harmonica. Having said that, taking lessons with Ted was such a great decision. Other than being extremely knowledgeable, Ted is able to gear his lessons to his student's interest and talent level. To anyone hesitant on picking up a new instrument, the best decision I ever made was begin learning the guitar with him. He is accommodative, flexible and genuinely interested in his students' pursuit of musical proficiency no matter the talent level.”
- Michael Schuchman, Detroit, Michigan
"I had already been a performing musician for almost 20 years when I begun studying guitar with Ted. I was searching for a new point of view since I felt like I had only played things I already knew for a long time. Well, that's what I got, and much more. The lessons inspired and challenged me perfectly and soon evolved into more than just guitar lessons to a kind of over all music workshop."
- Freddi Waselius, Grankulla, Finland
"Ted is simply the best!! His passion for music is easily transferred upon his students. He has taught me more in the last year with guitar then I could have ever imagined. I cannot recommend him enough!!"
