Counting Through the Rest
A rest isn't a hole. It's a beat you say out loud and don't play. This trains the spot where the count goes quiet and you lose it.
The beat never stops. Notes sit on top of it. A rest is a beat that's still there — you just don't play a note on it.
So when the music goes silent, your mouth keeps going: "...3, 4..." Then your next note is waiting for you on 1. The rest is a number you say, not a gap you fall into.
Pick a mode. Count out loud the whole time. If your voice goes quiet in the rest, that's the bug — and you'll feel your next note land in the wrong place.
