READING DRILLS
Six short sight-reading exercises. Treble clef only. No song you've heard before โ that's the point. Read with your eyes, not your ears.
How to use these โ read this first
- Name before you play. For each exercise, say each note's letter out loud first. Don't touch the keyboard yet.
- Then play. Once you've named all 8 notes correctly, play them on the keyboard. Slow is fine.
- Self-check. Click "SHOW ANSWERS" after you're done. If you got every note right, move to the next exercise. If not, redo this one.
- No ear shortcuts. If you find yourself playing the note first to "see if it sounds right," cover the keys with your free hand and force yourself to read.
- Goal: get all 6 exercises 100% correct without peeking at the answers, by Saturday.
When you can do all six
You are officially reading sheet music. Bring this in on Saturday and we'll do a few new ones in person โ and start adding rhythm.
