Precision lyric writing
Inevitable
Lyrics where every line has a reason to be there.
Most songs drift because the writer never decided what the song is arguing. Inevitable is a method for finding that argument first, then building the song around it, so the verses push toward the chorus and the ending lands like it was always coming.
- You can't say what the song is about in one sentence.
- The verses describe a mood but nothing moves.
- The chorus repeats the title instead of paying it off.
- You rewrite lines for weeks and the song doesn't get better, just different.
- Feedback is "it's good" and you don't know what to change.
- Songwriters with drafts who want a way to judge their own lines.
- Students and serious hobbyists ready for a system, not tips.
- Working writers who want faster, more reliable revisions.
- A melody or production course. The method covers the words; music is taught separately.
- A rhyme dictionary or a list of prompts.
Before you write a line, you write one sentence: who wants what, what stands in the way, what it costs them, and what that proves. Every line then has to serve that sentence.
Before · a line that says the feeling
"I'm sorry for everything / I hope you know I care"
The controlling idea
Character A man wants his brother's forgiveness but won't name what he did, therefore he keeps showing up to help him move, which proves you can't work your way out of an apology.
After · a line that does the work
"I carried your couch down three flights / and never once said why"
